Vocabulary Site of the year: Vocabulary.com- расширяем активный словарный запас по цитатам из современной прессы, составляем учебные списки слов с цитатами. Словарь для Goldendict- 200 цитат из газет 2015 года на каждое из 113500 слов английского языка !

Vocabulary.com-
NEW! дополнение 31.10.2016-
пожалуй, лучший сайт в мире по расширению активного ( для говорения)
и пассивного ( для чтения) словарного запаса на английском на продвинутом уровне.
Например, мое любимое слово SERENDIPITY- слева объяснения значения в стиле живого преподавателя для самых частотных слов,

If you find good things without looking for them, serendipity — unexpected good luck — has brought them to you.
Serendipity does not come from Latin or Greek, but rather was created by a British nobleman in the mid 1700s from an ancient Persian fairy tale. The meaning of the word, good luck in finding valuable things unintentionally, refers to the fairy tale characters who were always making discoveries through chance. You can thank serendipity if you find a pencil at an empty desk just at you walk into an exam and realize that you forgot yours.
справа- уникальная функция, которой больше нигде нет- поиск по цитатам с этим словом по жанрам в современных недавних онлайн-версиях номеров газет, журналов, а также в художественной литературе. Например, самый недавний пример на слово serendipity в USAGE EXAMPLES- BUSINESS- с гиперссылкой на страницу публикации-

Afterward, just by serendipity, I saw an ad in the newspaper, and then went to work for Unicef.

New York TimesJul 29, 2016

Еще одна уникальная функция Vocabulary.com- составление Ваших личных списков из изучаемых слов или пользование чужими списками. Вот, например, мой тестовый список из недавних слов,
- Первые два слова из 25 в моем списке:
  1. scupper
put in a dangerous, disadvantageous, or difficult position
Russia has consistently blocked the agreement, with China also scupperingthe deal each year until 2015.
    — The Guardian (Oct 16, 2016)
  2. impugn
    attack as false or wrong
Mostly though, Melania Trump’s appearances involved impugning the integrity of the accusers — and, of course, the media.
    — The Guardian (Oct 18, 2016)
которые я взял из последних статей, которые я прочитал в разных онлайн-изданиях, типа The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The New York Times.
